Idler

LAGGED IDLER ROLLS

Idler rolls are available in SBR, Neoprene, White Neoprene, and Urethane, in thicknesses from 1/8” to 1/2”.

SCALE QUALITY IDLER ROLLS

Scale Quality Idler Rolls are not new, what is new is that
Precision's unique manufacturing technique produces scale quality idler rolls without machining of the tube. This process yields a scale quality idler roll with a full thickness tube for the full width of the roll. This process will reduce vibration and yield a long life scale quality idler roll. It is truly, Life Xtending Technology in Action! For more information see our Scale Quality Roll Flyer.

HD Idler Rolls (H)

PPI Heavy Duty Rolls come with 1/4" cans. To specify a 1/4" thick can, just add H to the beginning of the part number, e.g. D6-FL-48SB becomes HD6-FL-48SB

.

Poly Sleeve Roll Covering (PS)

PPI's Poly Sleeve Roll Covering is currently available for 6" diameter rolls only, it adds 5/16" thickness of Polyethylene to the idler roll. The Polyethylene improves corrosion resistance, reduces friction and yields additional wear to a Precision Idler. To specify a poly sleeve roll, just add PS to the end of the part number, e.g. D6-FL-48SB becomes D6-FL-48SBPS

FLAT CARRIER IDLERS

precision® Flat Carrier Idlers are constructed to the same specifications as the troughing idlers. The support bracket’s strength is equal to or greater than the idler load rating. Precision furnishes 4 ½” end stands as standard. If a different height is required, please contact us.

INVERTED V RETURN

Inverted V Returns are used to positively track the belt by creating a displacement force on the belt. As long as the belt is centered, these displacement forces will balance out. If the belt is off, just a fraction of an inch, the displacement forces will be unbalanced, creating a centering force, moving the belt back towards the center. That is positive tracking! There is no waiting for the belt to wonder off track far enough to activate a passive training system. Available in CEMA C & D, 5 & 6 Roll Diameter 4.5 inch drop and CEMA E 6 & 7 inch roll diameter 7 inch drop for standard belt widths.

BEATER BAR RETURN IDLER ROLLS

Designed to drop into the PPI Heavy Duty Drop brackets. The roll is available in 5 and 6 inch diameters in CEMA C & D configurations. The part number use FLBR type identifier, e.g. C5-FLBR-24SB. This part includes 2 end clips and screws. The HD drop bracket is available separately as part number 14205.

The side guide rolls can be universally mounted on either side for belt travel in either direction or centered at the roll ends for reversing belts.

Return Rubber Grooved (RRG)

PPI created the Return Rubber Grooved Idler Roll for a problem situation, one that was so tough it would destroy conventional Rubber discs. It has proven itself in some of the most demanding applications known. The rubber is extruded directly onto the idler, and the grooves are machined into the rubber.

RUBBER DISC RETURN IDLERS

Rubber Disc Return Idlers are constructed from abrasion resistant, synthetic rubber discs. An encapsulated steel ring maintains a compression fit between the disc and a heavy wall inner tube.

SELF-ALIGNING RUBBER DISC RETURN

All of the features that are designed into the precision® Self-Aligning Return Idlers will be found on this idler with the addition of a rubber disc roll.

TEISW (Trougher Equal Impact Slider Wing)

To expand the functionality of our idlers, precision® announces the development of our
Wing Slider System. Slider brackets can be installed in precision® frames to replace the wing rolls. This helps the skirtboard sealing and is meant to compliment the TIS and TISZ systems, to aid in sealing the belt between the slider rails and the skirtboards adjacent to the loading area. precision® recommends using a minimum of 3 idler frames. However the system is flexible enough to use from 2 to 5 frames with each section. Reduced drag - 70% .of the load is on the center roll. Improved Impact absorption - Rubber discs are better for absorption of impact.. Improves Skirtboard sealing effectiveness. Assembles in place for ease of installation. Standard 1/2” thick UHMW - optional 1” thick UHMW. Standard 5 foot rails, also available in 4 foot lengths.

TISZ (Trougher Impact System)

Our TIS has been so popular will solving loading problems, that we have expanded the line with the 2 foot option. The 2 foot system is designed for underground mining where there is not room to install a one piece 5 foot system, AND for transfer points on any conveyor. Transfer points often have a well defined stream, and a 5 foot system is not necessary. However both systems, the 5 foot and 2 foot have the same features:

  • True Impact System
  • Xtend the Life of your Belt.
  • Triple-action shock absorption
  • Fold down wings for ease of installation and maintenance
  • Low drag
  • Offset rolls to reduce roll gap at the center
  • Built-in slots for hoist, crane, or fork truck
  • 1/2” thick UHMW for long life and increase effectiveness in skirt board sealing

The Trougher Impact System is designed to match with CEMA standard dimensions. Each system is setup on CEMA D6 and E7 standards to maximize the impact absorption. If your requirements are for C5, D5, or E6, contact PPI about our Low Profile Impact System (TISL & TISZL). Our prototype is still running after 6 years, without a single roll or UHMW failing.

TROUGHING IDLERS

Precision® Idlers are available in CEMA B, C, D & E series. The “B” series are available 4” and 5” diameter rolls. CEMA C series idlers are available in 4”, 5” and 6” diameter rolls. CEMA D series idlers are available in 5” and 6” diameter rolls. CEMA E series idlers are available in 6” and 7” diameter rolls.

SELF-ALIGNING TROUGHING IDLERS

Precision® Self-Aligning Idlers are built to the same specifications as troughing idlers. The frame is mounted on a separate base with tapered roller bearings, and it is free to swivel within controlled limits. A unique feature of this style is its ability to adjust roll height for additional training. The side guide rolls can be universally mounted on either side for belt travel in either direction or centered at the roll ends for reversing belts.

IMPACT TROUGHING IDLERS

Precision® Impact Idlers are built to withstand the shock at the loading zone. The rubber rolls used on impact idlers are made of natural molded rubber which is ideal for shock absorbing characteristics.

Lagging

LAGGING FOR CONVEYOR PULLEYS

precision® has complete in-house pulley lagging capabilities. Every step of the pulley manufacturing and lagging process is controlled internally which assures quality, prompt delivery, and competitive pricing of lagged pulleys. Available in a wide variety of styles and thickness, lagging is primarily used to improve traction capacity, resist abrasive conditions and extend pulley and belt life. The style of lagging is required is usually influenced by operating conditions.

HERRINGBONE GROOVE LAGGING (HBG)

The style of lagging is required is usually influenced by operating conditions. Herringbone is shown to the immediate left. This Tractor style grooving is where the points do not meet in the middle. This is normally used in drive pulleys, with the V pointing in the direction of rotation. (3/8" minimum thickness)

CHEVRON GROOVE LAGGING

Some prefer having the points meet, as done in Chevron, over HBG style shown above. This is also used primarily on drive pulleys. (3/8” minimum thickness)

DIAMOND GROOVE LAGGING

Diamond , or double HBG, or double chevron is primarily used for reversing conveyor drive pulleys. It is also often used for spare pulleys, when one doesn’t know what the direction of rotation. (3/8” minimum thickness)

CIRCUMFERENTIAL GROOVE LAGGING

This is used on non-drive pulleys for really wet applications, OR for cold temperatures, which allows the lagging to deflect, and keep material from building up on the lagging. (3/8” minimum thickness).

CRAFT-LAG® REPLACEABLE LAGGING

Craft-Lag® is bonded to rigid backing which is then formed to a specific diameter. Craft-Lag® can be used with or without retainers and is ideal for mining, crushed stone, sand and gravel, cement, agriculture, food processing, coal mining, power plants, feed and grain, and general industry.

CERAMIC LAGGING

Ceramic lagging is rubber with ceramic tiles embedded into it. This makes for excellent traction, and abrasion resistance. This is used on larger drives.

ALIGNER GROOVE LAGGING

This is a “Lorig®” (Lorig is a trademark of US Steel) style lagging. It is used on flat face pulleys, the lagging is machined flat, then grooves are machine in at an angle. This results in a training action. As the rubber is compressed by the belt, the lagging will deflect towards the center, helping to track the belt. As you can see in the cross sectional view. (3/4” normal thickness, )

ROUGH TOP LAGGING

Rough Top is used for small diameter drive pulleys, where the wear is not a problem. It is created by lagging the pulley, but before the rubber is cured, a special mold is applied to the lagging to cause the grooves to be formed in the lagging, and it is cured with this form in place. It gives excellent traction, without cutting grooves. This makes it available on thin lagging, such as 1/4.”

XHD FAS-LAG® REPLACEABLE LAGGING

This easy to install wing pulley lagging system is designed for the Quarry Max Wing pulley. It is welded to the flat contact bar to provide additional traction, protection for the contact bar and protection for the mechanical splice. The lagging is 2” wide by 1” thick to provide extra life. The standard is black 60 durometer SBR.

HD FAS-LAG® REPLACEABLE LAGGING

This easy to install wing pulley lagging system is used for original equipment. The welded flat contact bar provides additional strength. And is designed to provide additional traction, protection for the contact bar and protection for the mechanical splice. The standard is black 60 durometer SBR.

SHAFTS

precision® Conveyor Pulley Shafting is a vital part of the total pulley application. Standard Precision Shafting is AISI 1045, which represents the higher carbon range in the open hearth carbon group. Excluding alloy steel, higher carbon content in a AISI 1045 results in one of the strongest steels in the carbon range and machines to a smooth finish. Other alloys, including 4140 are available upon request. Shafting can be keyed or journaled to meet any specification
